Manchester United should be looking to sign Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans as well as Frenkie de Jong this summer, according to Paul Robinson.
The former England goalkeeper claims that the Belgian is an outstanding player and manager Erik ten Hag should be looking to snap up both him and De Jong
Ten Hag is believed to be a fan of Tielemans, so there is a strong possibility that United could make a move for 25-year-old, especially as he is available for a knockdown price.
Due to the fact that the midfielder has less than a year left on his contract, most reports suggest he could be available for as little as £25m to £30m.
Along with De Jong, the Manchester club would have to shell out around £120m in total for the two players but, as Robinson says, it would be worth it.
One major obstacle is that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are thought to be Tielemans’ preferred destination, although the Gunners are yet to make an official offer for the Belgian international.
Manchester United have already lost Paul Pogba to Juventus. Ten Hag still believes that his side still has defensive and midfield problems.
Manchester United and Barcelona are still yet to reach an agreement fr Frenkie as the deal is yet to collapse. Manchester United brought £75m which didn’t match Barcelona’s asking price of £86m.
In addition to that, Frenkie De Jong is not willing to come to Manchester United as he as described it as a “backward step“.
De Jong is set to stay in Barcelona and take a pay cut. Barcelona are still even owing Frenkie De Jong £17m of salary debt.
Paul Robinson has advised Manchester United to go for both Frenkie and Tielemans but as at the way things are going, Manchester United might not sign Frenkie De Jong.
Paul Robinson has advised them to go for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans as an alternative who would cost them as low as £25m.
