Man United have started drawing a shortlist of footballers to replace Ronaldo, who is nearing an Old Trafford exit.
Man United have identified Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz among the options.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been flirting with a possible exit from the Red Devils for the second time following the club’s failure to qualify for the UCL.
Cristiano Ronaldo was initially said to be set to honour his deal, which had a year remaining on it, with Man United and show faith in new coach Erik ten Hag.
However, new updates have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is pushing for an exit from Old Trafford.
The 37-year-old striker has not reported for pre-season training and is not part of the club’s touring party to Thailand.
The latest reports have left the Red Devils desperately looking for options, while they continue to pay attention to strengthening other positions as well.
German International Wirtz has emerged as a transfer target. Wirtz joined the Bundesliga giants from Koln in 2019 and has grown into an important component of their setup.
In a little over two campaigns, Florian has played 78 games for Die Werkself, scoring 19 times and assisting 22 goals.
The 19-year-old playmaker is adept at playing across the attack, something which would excite the Red Devils fans.
But Man United are not the only team exploring the chancesof getting the German attacker on board.
Manchester United will need to pay £20m+ in order to sign German playmaker Wirtz.
