The Internship Program (FIP) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will allow you to perform research and analysis on a topic chosen by the Fund while being supervised by an experienced IMF colleague.
Qualification Requirements for IMF Internship Program
The following are the prerequisites for the International Student IMF Internship in 2024.
students pursuing PhDs
- After earning a doctorate in macroeconomics or a similar discipline in one to two years.
- Have a student status during the internship (i.e., plan to pursue a PhD following the internship).
- Be less than the age of 32 when the internship first started.
- possess a strong knowledge of written and spoken English.
- possess excellent computer, mathematical, and analytical abilities.
Students pursuing masters
- Obtaining a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as macroeconomics.
- less than 28 years old when the internship starts.
- possess a strong knowledge of written and spoken English.

A current transcript (displaying your current status and recent grades) for the university program in which you are enrolled.
